Monson, No. 1, loaded on a Maine Central flatcar in 1910 after being sent to the Portland Company. It was ready to be put back into service again.

The engine was built by the Hinckley Locomotive Works in Boston in 1881 for the Monson Slate Company and used to haul slate from the company to the Bangor and Piscataquis Railroad, later the Bangor and Aroostook.

It was a 24-inch gauge train.
