This chair belonged to the Henry Gray family of York. Gray later moved to Sturbridge, MA.Show Details
The chair consists of maple as the primary and pine as the secondary woods. Bannister back with 5 split carved bannisters. Rectangular dropped seat rail with upper corners rounded. Carved 3-tiered crest with rounded edges. Round finials over blocked and turned stiles. Rear legs blocked below seat. Front posts extend 2.6cm above rush seat, elaboratedly blocked and turned. 1 turned stretcher on each side at varying heights, higher in front and lower in back. Front button feet. Dark rosewood graining over original black paint.
