The exaggerated shoulder on suits or dresses was a hallmark of 1930s fashion. Designers created the effect through padding, layers of fabric, or other structural supports. This suit was described as, "Lovely suit in silk, but as pretty in wool. Is beautiful in white faille." Faille silk, easily draped and creased, is ideal for tailored clothing.

A Parisian designer sent this line sheet to customers in Maine. It arrived at Maine Historical Society with artist Mildred Burrage's papers.
