The Island Ledge Casino in Wells Beach was built by John M. Davis around 1909. According to "Beaches of Wells" by Hope M. Shelly (1997), it included "six bowling alleys, four pool tables, moving pictures, and ice cream parlor, and a lunch and dining room."

This establishment should not be confused with The Island Ledge House, which was built at Wells Beach in 1872, but burned in 1877. Both The Island Ledge Casino and The Island Ledge House were billed as "entertainment centers".
