Weighing 5,000 pounds and girthing 11 feet 6 inches, Mt. Katahdin was by far the largest oxen in the world, then and now.

He was bred by A.S. Rand and Son, on Creambrook Farm in Stetson and displayed with his sibling, Granger, at Fairs and expositions all over New England.
