Captain Mattie Pinette, from Guilford, shown sometime before D-Day in 1944. Seated at left, she was General Eisenhower's secretary. Next to Captain Mattie Pinette is Prime Minister Winston Churchill and Ike's driver, British Officer Kay Summersby.

In the second row are British Commander Thompson, British Captain Harry Butcher, British Colonel James Gault, British Admiral Cunningham, American General Dwight D. (Ike) Eisenhower, and an unidentified general.

Pinette also was involved with the Albuquerque Operations for the United States Atomic Energy Commission.
