Image Info

The Lubec water tower located high on a rocky bluff above Johnson Street fed water to the large American Can Co. plant. The factory, built in 1907 and later expanded, manufactured cans for sardines and other products packed in Eastport, Lubec, and down the Maine coast. Note the pipe angling across the street to the factory. It appears that workers have proudly finished construction of an insulated water delivery system for winter use.
