Image Info

A closeup of the Broad Arrow seal used to designate the property of King George (1660-1727). The seal is on a bottle that may have been used for medicine. It was found on the British Brig Boxer that was lost in a battle with the Enterprize off Monhegan Island during the War of 1812.

The mark was used on trees in Maine that the king's agents designated for his use for ship masts.
