This Queen Anne style house was built on Hyler Street by Captain Ed Smalley in 1890.

He moved here with his wife, Elsie, daughter of Captain William Watts, after living for many years with the Watts family on Water Street.

Captain Smalley commanded the St. Charles, the Baring Brothers and several ships of shipbuilders Chapman and Flint.
