Dressmaker Martha Willey Riley (1858-1932) made and wore this two-piece, cream-colored lightweight wool dress with decorative bead work and fringe. The dress has a square neck, iridescent bead work, and rayon fringe at the edges of the short dolman sleeves. The sheer, striped blouse is separate from the dress. The blouse extends up to create a high neck, and below the sleeve's fringe towards the wrist. The attached skirt with a shorter over skirt, includes a front and back panel with additional bead work and fringe. The burgundy and multi-colored bead work is in a floral motif.

Martha (Willey) Riley lived in Cherryfield. She married John Riley, a logger and blueberry farmer.
