In the early 1900s, workers on the Ingraham farm in Hodgdon brought loose cut hay to the barn in a horse drawn wagon. Once inside the barn the wagon would be unloaded by hook and grapple and placed into the haymow. The Ingraham family were early settlers of the Hodgdon area.

Ed Vail, a local attorney, was also an amateur photographer and took many images of the Ingraham farm and family because the Vails and Ingrahams were related by marriage.
