On July 4th, 1923, crowds gathered across the nation to listen to the radio broadcast of the historic Jack Dempsey vs. Tommy Gibbons fight in the rural town of Shelby, Montana. The fight, which Dempsey won in a decision, was crafted to bring national attention to the town of Shelby, where oil had been found several years before.
