Image Info

Born in Kingfield in 1858, Chansonetta Stanley Emmons traveled throughout New England documenting rural people and scenes. She frequently spent summers in Kingfield photographing relatives and neighbors on their farms. "Uncle Tristam," as identified by the photographer, was Tristam Norton (1811-1908) from Kingfield.

Emmons and her daughter Dorothy hand colored lantern slides for presentations. This image survives in Emmons collection as both a glass negative and a hand-colored lantern slide.
