Alexander W. Longfellow, a surveyor and a son of Zilpah and Stephen Longfellow, drew a plan of the lot of land on Congress and Brown streets in Portland in 1838 to show the land belonging to the estate of Reuben Morton.

The Morton block occupied the northeast corner of Brown and Congress. The drawing shows the owners of the various sections of the land and dimensions of buildings. To the right of the drawing is the edge of the property owned by "Heirs of Gen. Wadsworth."

Peleg Wadsworth was the grandfather of Alexander Longfellow. Longfellow and his siblings grew up in the house Wadsworth built in 1785-1786.
